Professional Statement
Susan Wilkie is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida. She works with adolescence, young professionals, college students and adults. Many of Susan’s clients seek counseling when stressors in life have become unmanageable. She is particularly passionate about serving those who have symptoms of depression and anxiety, going through life's transitions, experiencing grief and loss with advanced training in the area of addiction.
Through a variety of therapeutic techniques, Susan focuses on guiding the client to discover rooted thought patterns that have created problems over and over in life. This insight dislodges those old modes of thinking that are then replaced with new insights and understandings. This clear thinking ignites a profound shift in perception while producing confidence within.
Susan's style is client-centered focused. During the first session, the client is encouraged speak freely about their challenges, concerns and problems in order to pinpoint goals to be established. Through honoring the development of trust and rapport, a vibe is created in the therapeutic relationship that is based on a gentle "Let's get real" and truly uncover what is blocking one from feeling balanced.
Susan received her Master's in Professional Counseling from Liberty University with a year internship at Ascension Brighton Center for Addiction and Recovery in Michigan. She recently gained experience with grief and loss during three years (and presently) counseling patients and families in hospice.
Outside of private practice, Susan is passionate about her own mind-body-spiritual journey to self-awareness, love and support of her family, the ocean, watching sports, quieting the mind daily in meditation.
